Lovely, colorful skin that runs small Dec 28, 2009

As a newbie to the world of skins, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Based upon the video reviews available on youtube of this and competing brands, I figured that it would cover the entire iPod--as the skin is meant to be a statement of utility and taste.
This seems to be the only skin I purchased that did not cover the product as depicted in the photographs. The skins for the Kindle and netbook cover the parts shown--no more and no less.The iPod skin, as a previous review, does not cover as shown in the photographs.
Applying the skin was a bit of a nuisance, as I also have a screen protector, and tried to put the skin under the protector (to avoid dust collecting around the cut out on the skin), which did not work. The screen protector is on the bottom, and the skin is on the top, and does collect dust and dirt, and requires cleaning. It came with one piece for the back and one for the front. What made application difficult was the smaller size of the skin in comparison with the iPod. The back skin leaves a border of uncovered iPod, which can get damaged. The front is where problems were encountered. It is not the size of the front face of the ipod, probably a millimeter smaller on all sides, and this made it difficult to properly align it so it did not look crooked. I never did accomplish that, after many failed attempts to perfect it, I settled on the one that irked me the least. It is crooked, and it is noticeable on the corners, where it does not meet the end of the iPod itself and creates another place (in addition to the space for the button and screen) for dirt and dust to collect. That being said, true to claim, both sides did smooth out nicely, and the back has no air bubbles or wrinkles, and the front only has them on due to the hard case.
In all, the skin is vivid and inspiring, and looks very much like the picture (aside from being smaller than the iPod). It is an easy way for me to identify the iPod, and draws my eyes to it every time. I've not tried to remove it, so cannot comment on that process, but have been pleased with the skin and the quality, enough to buy skins from the same company for other electronics, and have recommended them to others. Just know it takes a little patience and a steady hand to apply it.
